Bicycle Dreaming book illustrations 2

Polish painter Jacek Jerka is a great influence on the way I see the world.

Bradshaw paintings, more than 20 000 years old,  are the most enigmatic prehistorical rock art, found only in the Kimberley of the NW Australia, roughly in the same area that boabs are found in the wild.

I am not joking, this guy stopped his diesel monster in the mid of nowhere, to ask me, in all seriousness:

When I do meet any cyclists in the deep outback, they make me wonder if we both come from the same planet.

Desert may be defined by the absence of rain, but from Lajamanu to Alice Springs it rained, right across the Tanami, for a fortnight, during the dry season. Pain when you try to camp, but blessing when you look for water.
